Senior volleyball player Rebekah Bowden had a tremendously week for Austin College, averaging 2.0 blocks-per-set as the 'Roos went 4-0 at the Austin College Invitational. The middle blocker from Flint totaled 28 blocks, including seven solo blocks, to increase her SCAC-best average to 1.52 blocks-per-set this year.
Behind the strong play from Bowden, the 'Roos are off to a 7-1 start. In addition to her stellar defensive play, which garnered her Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors this week, Bowden also averaged 1.79 kills-per-set in four matches last week. Bowden has finished among the national leaders in blocks the last two seasons, and is currently ranked fifth in all of NCAA Division III in that category.
