'Roo Football Has 10 Earn SCAC Postseason Honors

Nine members of the Austin College football team have been named as All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference performers and Madison Ross has been named the SCAC Newcomer of the Year for 2012, the league office has announced.
Ross, a freshman running back from Fort Worth, led all first-year runners with 290 yards and two touchdowns on 55 carries for an average of 5.3 yards per rush. Ross also had 12 receptions for 138 yards and two more touchdowns and returned six kickoffs for 80 yards, placing him third on the team in all purpose yards. Ross had a career game in the season finale against Trinity when he carried 22 times for 85 yards and a touchdown. He is the first player from Austin College to earn one of the league's Player of the Year awards in the sport of football.
Earning All-SCAC honors are offensive lineman Russell Gentry, wide receiver PJ Fuller, running backs Kevin Leonard and Sean Sweeney, placekicker Andrew Klink, defensive linemen William Gadberry and James Roh, linebacker Nathan Packard, and defensive back Logan Estes.
Gentry, a senior from North Richland Hills, helped pave the way for an offense that rushed for 1,885 yards and 12 scores on the ground and yielded only 14 sacks on the year.
Fuller, a senior from Chico, led the team in all receiving categories with 30 catches, 491 yards, and three touchdowns with an average of 16.4 yards per catch and a long of 55 yards. Fuller also averaged 34.6 yards per punt as the team's starting punter.
Leonard, a senior from Plano, rushed 37 times for 106 yards and a touchdown as the team's starting fullback, and also caught three passes for 19 yards.
Sweeney, a senior from Plano, carried 159 times for a SCAC best 756 yards, an average of 4.8 yards per carry, and scored three touchdowns on the ground. Sweeney also caught 10 passes for 74 yards.
Klink, a junior from Cypress, connected on 9-of-11 field goals with a long of 37 yards and also made 16-of-18 point after attempts. Klink was twice named the SCAC Special Teams Player of the Week and averaged 61.4 yards on kickoffs with 10 touchbacks.
Gadberry, a senior from Eudora, Kansas, made 48 tackles including 5.0 for loss and 2.0 sacks. Gadberry had 24 solo tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble.
Roh, a senior from Coppell, made 31 tackles, including 13 solo stops, in eight games while coming up with 5.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks. Roh also led the team with four quarterback hurries this season.
Packard, a junior from Dallas, led the 'Roos with 66 tackles, including 42 solo stops, and had 5.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack. He also had an interception, which he returned 68 yards for a touchdown, and recovered a fumble.
Estes, a junior from Watauga, made 36 tackles, including 20 solo stops and had 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack. Estes also had an interception which he returned 11 yards.
Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
