Waddell Named SCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Austin College senior defender Mason Waddell has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the league office has announced.
Austin College men's soccer player Mason Waddell has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, September 3 through Sunday, September 9.
Waddell, a senior defender from Austin, had an outstanding week anchoring a defense that yielded only four goals in three games and posted a shutout of LeTourneau. Waddell consistently turned away opposing attacks and marked the top scoring threats for Austin College's opponents, and in a 1-1 double overtime draw against Howard Payne made the defensive play of the week when he made a kick save from the ground on what would have been a game ending goal in the second overtime period.
Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
