SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College men's soccer team continued its strong start to the season, topping Centenary 2-0 to improve to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
Austin College tallied early to take a 1-0 lead, with Thomas Quick finding the net for the second time this season in the 11th minute of action. The score remained 1-0 through halftime despite Austin College maintaining an 11-3 shot advantage in the game's opening half, and it wasn't until the 78th minute that the 'Roos were able to find the net once again. Garrett Matacale found Jack Wheaton at the 77:39 mark, and Wheaton finished to make it a 2-0 game.
That's how things would end, as Austin College completed a dominant performance with a 19-4 edge in shots, as well as a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Joseph Khalaf stopped the only two shots he faced to earn the clean sheet.
Austin College returns home on Sunday to take on LeTourneau in a non-conference matchup.
