Softball Swept by Hendrix and Washington

The Austin College softball team fell in its final two games of its weekend trip against Hendrix and Washington University, falling 8-6 to the Warriors and 4-1 to Washington. The 'Roos are now 1-13 this season with the two losses.
In game one against Hendrix the 'Roos jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but Hendrix scored the next three runs. Austin College got one back in the third but the Warriors went ahead 8-3 heading into the final inning. Briana Hernandez blasted a three run homer in the top of the seventh to pull the 'Roos within two at 8-6, but that's as close as the 'Roos would get.
Jessica Baker went 4-for-4 and scored three runs and Hernandez went 1-for-4 with four RBI in the loss. Sophia Hernandez, Chelsea Delaney, and Heather Farquhar each had two hits. Amber Pemberton absorbed the loss, surrendering six runs, four earned, in 4.0 innings of work.
Against Washington, the 'Roos fell behind 3-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth and were unable to recover despite getting a run back in that inning, and Washington added a seventh inning insurance run to seal the win.
Briana Hernandez went 2-for-3, Sophia Hernandez went 1-for-3 and scored a run, and Delaney drove in a run and went 1-for-1 in the loss. Sam Matulis took the lossgiving up three runs, four earned, on 10 hits in 6.2 innings.
