SEGUIN, Texas – Austin College softball players Beth Massey, Kat Wright, Cassidy McDaris, and Ashley Mayorga have each been selected as All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference performers, the league office has announced.
Massey, a junior catcher from Joshua, was a second team All-SCAC pick after batting .339 on the year and finishing fourth in the conference with four home runs. Massey was also sixth in the SCAC in both runs scored (31) and hits (43), as well as eighth with eight doubles. She also drove in 11 runs on the year.
Wright, a sophomore utility player from Morenci, Arizona, was an honorable mention All-SCAC selection. She spent time playing all over the field for Austin College, with the bulk of her time coming in the pitcher's circle and at third base. Wright was tied with Massey for fourth in the SCAC with four home runs, and also finished fourth on the team with 15 runs batted in.
McDaris, a sophomore third baseman from Denison, was an honorable mention All-SCAC pick and finished fifth in the SCAC with a .410 batting average, and was second in the conference with a .504 on-base percentage. She also hit three home runs, and led the 'Roos and finished sixth in the conference with 26 runs batted in. Her 43 hits tied her with Massey for sixth most in the SCAC.
Mayorga, a freshman shortstop from West Covina, California, was an honorable mention All-SCAC pick after she batted .305 and was 12th in the SCAC with 36 hits, while also finishing second on the team with 21 runs batted in. Mayorga also paced the 'Roos and was 12th in the SCAC with 14 stolen bases, and also had five doubles on the year.
