Four from 'Roo Women's Hoops Named All-SCAC
Four members of the Austin College women’s basketball team have earned All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors, the league office announced today at the SCAC Tournament.
Four members of the Austin College women's basketball team have earned All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors, the league office announced today at the SCAC Tournament.
Erin Riley, a junior forward from Battle Creek, Michigan was named Second Team All-SCAC after finishing eighth in the conference with a scoring average of 12.2 points per game and added 6.5 rebounds per game, also the eighth best average in the league. Riley was fifth in the league with a shooting percentage of .443 and second with a .416 three point percentage, and made a SCAC best 64 treys on the year.
Brittany Stepanski, a freshman forward from Humble, was named Second Team All-SCAC after finishing 16th in the league with an average of 9.5 points per game and finished 13th in rebounding with a 6.2 average. Stepanski was ninth in the league with a .699 free throw percentage and third with 1.3 blocked shots per game, and was named the SCAC Player of the Week on January 21. She had four double-doubles on the year.
Christina Kime, a sophomore guard from San Diego, California was named Honorable Mention All-SCAC after averaging 8.3 points and finished tied for fourth in the conference with 3.8 assists per game. Kime added 3.5 rebounds and shot .312 from long distance and boasted the fourth best assist-to-turnover ratio in the conference.
Shayna Clardy, a senior guard from The Woodlands, was an Honorable Mention All-SCAC selection after averaging 9.5 points per game, which tied her with Stepanski for 16th in the league. Clardy added 3.5 rebounds per game and led the conference with a .417 three point percentage, and was fifth in three pointers made this season.
Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
