'Roo Volleyball Drops Three at First SCAC Event of the Season
The Austin College volleyball team faced a tough slate of teams at the first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference event of the year, falling to nationally ranked Southwestern, Colorado College and Trinity.
The Austin College volleyball team dropped its three matches at the first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference event of the season, falling by scores of 3-1 to Southwestern, Colorado College and Trinity. The 'Roos are now 7-7 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
The 'Roos opened the weekend with a 19-25, 25-20, 17-25, 13-25 loss to host school Southwestern, with Ally Ahlberg recording 10 kills to lead the team. Kelly McDaniel added 31 assists and five digs and Adrienne Reynolds registered a team-best 17 digs.
Austin Collegee then fell by scores of 18-25, 16-25, 27-25, 16-25 to Colorado College on Saturday, with Shelby Eaves getting a team-high 13 kills while Bekah Newberry added nine. McDaniel and Reynolds again paced the 'Roos with 28 assists and 20 digs, respectively.
The 'Roos closed out the weekend with a 21-25, 16-25, 26-24, 23-25 loss against Trinity with Eaves once again recording 13 kills to lead Austin College and Newberry adding 10. McDaniel had 36 assists and seven digs and Reynolds had 20 digs in the loss.
