SHERMAN, Tex. - The Austin College Women's Tennis Team opened the 2019 SCAC Women's Tennis Championships at home with a decisive 5-0 victory over the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs.
The 'Roos claimed all three doubles points over TLU, with Anna Sergiovanni and Kirsten Weber putting the first match on the board at Line 2 Doubles, 8-2. Georgia Moore and Kirsten Weber doubled the lead with an 8-4 victory at Line 3, and #11 West Region Doubles Team Melody Duong and Diana Carvajalino completed the sweep 8-5.
AC and TLU started with Lines 3-6 of Singles Competition since the teams only were able to play Lines 1 & 2 in a shortened match indoors in New Braunfels only two weeks ago. The Kangaroos claimed Line 3 Singles with Anna Sergiovanni rolling to a 6-0, 6-0 victory, and Chandler Morris cruising to a 6-0, 6-3 victory at Line 4.
With the first round victory, AC sets up a semi-final date with the Southwestern Pirates at 9:00AM, tomorrow on Saturday, 4/20. The match will be played at the recently reconstructed Elizabeth Russell Tennis Center on the campus of Austin College.
