2012 'Roo Football Season Recap
The 2012 season was a tough one for the Austin College football team, as the 'Roos went 2-8 overall on the year. The 'Roos picked up a home victory over Wayland Baptist and won at Southwest Assemblies of God and had 10 student-athletes named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll.

The 'Roos once again featured a strong running attack, piling up 1,885 yards on the ground as a team and led by Sean Sweeney, who gained 756 yards with an average of 4.8 yards per carry and three touchdowns. Sweeney also caught 10 passes for 74 yards on his way to being named All-Conference.
Broc Boyd and Madison Ross each had strong years out of the backfield as well, with Boyd rushing for 370 yards while Ross gained 290 yards with an average of 5.3 yards per carry and two touchdowns. Ross also finished second on the team with 12 receptions for 138 yards and two more scores and was named the SCAC Newcomer of the Year.
Noah Jesko finished his second season as the starting signal caller for Austin College, completing 56.3% of his passes for 723 yards and five touchdowns against five interceptions. Jesko's primary target all year was PJ Fuller, who caught 30 passes for 491 yards and three touchdowns to finish among the SCAC leaders in receiving.
Fuller and Andrew Klink gave the 'Roos a strong special teams game in 2012, with Klink connecting on 9-of-11 field goals and 16-of-18 point after attempts while Fuller averaged 34.6 yards per kick as the team's punter. Klink was twice named the SCAC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Defensively, Nathan Packard led the 'Roos with 66 tackles, including 5.0 for loss with a sack and also had one interception returned 68 yards for a touchdown in the season opener. De'Andre Holmes was second on the team with 59 tackles, and Scott Loy made 57 stops and had two interceptions.
Stephen Young had 56 tackles and William Gadberry had 48, while Tre Stewart had team-highs with 10.0 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks while also making 47 stops overall. Colter Headrick led the team with three interceptions on the year.
The 'Roos will be looking to improve on their record as they head into the 2013 season, but with Jesko back under center and a strong ground game led by Ross, the 'Roos will be looking to make some big steps next year.
