Nguyen Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College Athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighing our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo men's swimmer Ethan Nguyen.

Nguyen, a freshman from Highland Park, had an historic first collegiate meet as the 'Roos topped McMurry to open the season in Abilene. Facing college competition for the very first time, Nguyen broke the Austin College program record in the 100 breaststroke, swimming in a time of 58:68 and taking first place in the event. That also marked the first time a 'Roo swimmer has ever delivered a sub-60 second time in that event. Nguyen also took first in the 200 individual medley, and was part of Austin College's 200 medley relay team that placed first. For his efforts, Nguyen was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Male Swimmer of the Week.
