Chanin Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College Athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo women's swimmer Liberty Chanin.

Chanin, a freshman from Irving, has had an outstanding first year with the Austin College swimming and diving program. This week, she was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week after posting a second place finish in the 500 freestyle, coming in with a time of 5:30.42 at the AC Invite. Chanin helped the 'Roos to a fourth place finish at the meet, which included multiple NCAA Division II programs. Chanin, who continues a family legacy of swimming for the 'Roos after her older brother, Josh, competed for the 'Roo men, has had a number of first place finishes throughout the season in the 1650, 1000, and 500 freestyle events.
