Mahoney Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College Athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo baseball player Zack Mahoney.

Mahoney, a junior third baseman from Corsicana, had a big week for Austin College as the 'Roos went 3-0 with wins over Arlington Baptist and McMurry, batting .400 with two home runs, a double, three runs scored, and eight runs batted in. Mahoney's biggest game of the week came on the road at McMurry, going 3-for-5 with a pair of homers in the 10-3 victory. Mahoney's hot bat has been a big part of Austin College's 4-1 start to the season. In his first year with the program, Mahoney is hitting .333 while scoring seven runs and driving in nine more.
