Chanin Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo women's swimmer Liberty Chanin.

Chanin, a senior from Irving, was recently named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Character and Community Athlete of the Week in recognition of her service to the Austin College community. In addition to being an All-SCAC swimmer and 2022 champion in the 1650 freestyle, Chanin has been dedicated to a multitude of service opportunities around the Austin College and Sherman communities, including organizing a food drive last semester that brought in more than 1,300 items. Chanin was also recently named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection for her outstanding work in the classroom, and she also served as the women's swim team's captain this year.
