Getenet Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo men's basketball player Kidus Getenet.

Getenet, a sophomore guard from Allen, was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week after helping the 'Roos to a 4-0 mark over Thanksgiving break. Getenet averaged 19.8 points and 5.5 rebounds-per-game, notching 20 or more points in three of the team's four games and drilling a game-winning, last-second three pointer in a 74-72 win at home against Howard Payne. Later in the week, he poured in a career-best 25 points in a road victory at Hendrix, and for the week shot 57% from the field, 44% from three point range, and 82% from the free throw line.
