Barcus-Schafer Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo women's swimmer Lola Barcus-Schafer.

Barcus-Schafer, a sophomore from Tulsa, had a strong all-around meet as the 'Roos were home for the final time of the 2023-24 campaign at the Austin College Invitational. Barcus-Schafer had several strong swims in a field that included NCAA Division II opponent UT-Permian Basin, including taking third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:57.34. She was also part of Austin College's 400 medley relay team that finished third with a time of 4:42.62, and was fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:19.88, just a quarter second out of third place.
