Johnson Named Modern Woodmen Athlete of the Week
SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo football player Jermiah Johnson.
SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo football player Jermiah Johnson.
Johnson, a sophomore wide receiver and kick returner from Mesquite, has put together a breakout campaign in his second year within the program, ranking second on the team with 27 receptions, and he's also second on the team and eighth in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with 470 receiving yards while catching three touchdowns. He's become a big-play threat for the 'Roos this season, currently ranking second in the SCAC with an average of 17.4 yards-per-catch, and he's also averaging 20.4 yards-per-return on kick return duty. Twice this season he's surpassed 100 receiving yards, including a five catch, 124 yards, two touchdown performance in the team's final home game of the year against Lyon.
