'Roos Top St. Thomas Behind Complete Game Gem From CeBallos

The 'Roos are now 7-7 overall and 7-6 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
CeBallos was dominant on the mound for the 'Roos, tossing all nine innings and allowing just two unearned runs on seven hits. The right-hander struck out eight batters and walked only one to improve to 4-0 on the season.
Austin College jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. Caleb Staggs scored the game's first run when Jayden Ayala-Hinojosa reached on a fielding error. Michinaux followed with an RBI single through the left side to bring home Desmond Squalls and make it a 2-0 game. The 'Roos extended their lead to 3-0 in the second inning when Kaden Stegent drew a bases-loaded walk to score Alex Rodriguez.
St. Thomas got on the board in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single to right field by Justin Ogle that scored Gage Kimble, who had reached on a throwing error earlier in the frame. However, the 'Roos answered in the bottom of the fifth when Michinaux launched a two-run home run to left field, bringing home Squalls and pushing the Austin College advantage to 5-1.
The Celts cut the deficit to 5-2 in the seventh inning after Zach Cline reached on a dropped fly ball and later scored on a groundout by Aryan Chopra, but Austin College got the run back in the bottom half of the inning when Staggs scored on a passed ball. Staggs finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a walk from the leadoff spot for Austin College. Squalls added a hit, two runs scored, and two stolen bases in the victory.
For St. Thomas, Kimble and Ogle each collected two hits to lead the offense. Starting pitcher Kaden Bertrand took the loss, falling to 2-4 on the year after giving up five earned runs on seven hits with five walks and two strikeouts in five innings of work. Logan Sanders pitched three innings of relief for St. Thomas, allowing one unearned run with four strikeouts. Austin College and the Celts will wrap up their three-game conference set with a doubleheader ron Saturday beginning at noon.
