17 From 'Roo Football Earn All-SCAC
SUWANEE, Ga. - Austin College football players Trevor Timmerman, Jermiah Johnson, Zyan Stewart, and Pablo Cantu have been named first team All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference performers and 13 other 'Roos earned honorable mention recognition for their outstanding play during the 2025 campaign, the league office has announced.
SUWANEE, Ga. - Austin College football players Trevor Timmerman, Jermiah Johnson, Zyan Stewart, and Pablo Cantu have been named first team All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference performers and 13 other 'Roos earned honorable mention recognition for their outstanding play during the 2025 campaign, the league office has announced.
Among those earning honorable mention status were Felix Florez, Jaivyn McGowan, Jack Nelson, Michael Cress, Jaylon Talton, Caleb Balderas, Brendan Clark, Ryder Marshall, Eliel Sandoval, Bryson McKnight, Kenneth Alexander, Evan Dennis, and Kellen Vickery.
Timmerman, a junior center from Coppell, teamed with Florez, a senior offensive guard, McGowan, a junior offensive tackle, and Nelson, a senior offensive guard, to clear the way for the second most prolific rushing attack in the SCAC during the 2025 campaign. The four starting linemen were part of an offense that rushed for 1,561 yards and 10 touchdowns, piling up 173.4 yards per game on the ground.
Johnson, a sophomore wide receiver from Mesquite, finished the season sixth in the SCAC with 42 receptions on his way to earning first team recognition. Johnson was also third in the league with 81 receiving yards per game, and hauled in five touchdown grabs.
Stewart, a sophomore running back from Lancaster, wrapped up the season third in the league with 635 rushing yards on his way to landing on the first team. Stewart averaged 5.2 yards per carry and scored three touchdowns on the ground and two more through the air, among his six receptions this season.
Cantu, a senior linebacker from Kingwood, was named first team All-SCAC after leading the conference with 93 tackles for an average of 10.3 tackles-per-game. Cantu also had 2.5 tackles for loss, including 1.0 sack, while forcing two fumbles and recovering two. He also finished third in the voting for the league's Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Cress, a junior wide receiver from Round Rock, was fifth in the league with 46 receptions to earn his honorable mention status. He finished the season with 574 receiving yards, snagging 5.8 receptions per game and scoring one touchdown on the year.
Talton, a junior quarterback from Arlington, was named honorable mention after finishing the season third in the conference with 1,334 passing yards, throwing eight touchdowns against five interceptions. Talton completed 60.4% of his pass attempts and added 270 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground. He was third in the voting for the league's Offensive Player of the Year Award.
Balderas, a senior kicker from Azle, was an hororable mention All-SCAC pick after finishing the year making 8-of-10 field goals, with those eight makes ranking third in the league. Balderas had a long field goal of 39 yards, and also made 20-of-21 point after attempts this season. He also finished second in the voting for the conference's Special Teams Player of the Year Award.
Clark, a first-year defensive end from Fort Worth, made an immediate impact this year for the 'Roos on his way to earning honorable mention accolades. Clark made 17 tackles this season, including 2.0 tackles for loss with 1.0 sack, and he also had one forced fumble in his first collegiate campaign.
Marshall, a sophomore defensive tackle from Mount Pleasant, was named honorable mention All-Conference after a year in which he made 18 tackles, with 11 of those being solo stops. He made 4.0 tackles for loss, incuding tying for the team lead with 2.0 sacks on the year, and he also had two forced fumbles.
Sandoval, a senior linebacker from Magnolia, was second on the team with 59 tackles on his way to being named honorable mention All-Conference. Sandoval had a team-high 4.5 tackles for loss, including 1.0 sack, and had two fumble recoveries and one blocked kick.
McKnight, sophomore linebacker from Iowa Park, was another honorable mention pick after finishing fifth on the team with 50 tackles, including 27 solos stops this year. He had 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack, and also had a pair of pass breakups.
Alexander, a sophomore safety from Commerce, as named honorable mention following a campaign in which he was third on the team with 52 tackles. Alexander had 38 solo tackles on the year, and boasted a team-high eight pass breakups.
Dennis, a senior cornerback from McKinney, was also named honorable mention All-SCAC after wrapping up his Austin College career making 23 tackles, including 2.0 tackles for loss. Dennis had two interceptions and three pass breakups, and also blocked a kick this season.
Vickery, a senior punter from Dripping Springs, was an honorable mention pick after twice being named the SCAC Special Teams Player of the Week this year. Vickery was second in the conference with an average of 39.3 yards per punt, putting eight punts inside the 20 yard line on the year.
