Lyons Named Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
SHERMAN, Texas – Austin College athletics director Michelle Filander has announced that Joc Lyons has been named the new assistant coach for the ’Roo men’s basketball program. After serving as a volunteer assistant for the team since 2023, Lyons is now being elevated to a full-time role.
SHERMAN, Texas – Austin College athletics director Michelle Filander has announced that Joc Lyons has been named the new assistant coach for the 'Roo men's basketball program. After serving as a volunteer assistant for the team since 2023, Lyons is now being elevated to a full-time role.
"Joc will be a great asset to the Austin College men's basketball program," said head coach Rodney Wecker. "He has a keen sense for evaluating talent and knows how to foster it through individual player development. We are really excited to officially welcome Joc to our coaching staff."
Lyons is a 2022 graduate of Central Christian College in McPherson, Kansas, where he earned a degree in sport fitness and recreation leadership following a standout playing career. During his time as a student, he worked as an athletic trainer and served as a physical therapy intern at Advanced Physical Therapy & Rehab. Most recently, Lyons has also served as a Community Coordinator at Austin College.
