Austin College struck first in the 18th minute of action, as Videep Mundodi found Max Mundorff for his first goal of the season to make it 1-0, but in a game where both teams made their limited attacking chances count, Schreiner evened things up just over 10 minutes later on a tally by Cameron Armer. Austin College managed four shots in the first half, while Schreiner had five, and the Mountaineers finished the game with an 11-7 shot advantage. However, the 'Roos put five of their efforts on target, compared to just three shots on goal for Schreiner.
After taking a tie game into halftime, Austin College took the lead for good at the 69:45 mark, as Pierce Wear found the back of the net to make it 2-1 and the 'Roos held on from there thanks to a strong defensive effort anchored by Patrick Bassett, who made a pair of saves in the win. Houston Schuman had three saves for Schreiner.
