'Roo Swimming Splits with Ozarks to Open Season
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's swim teams opened up the 2025-26 campaign on Saturday morning against the University of the Ozarks, with the men coming out on top 135-36 while the women were edged 110-76 in Hannah Natatorium.

The 'Roo men got off to a strong start by taking the top two spots in the 200 medley relay, with the team of JonAustin Blaine, Theodore Rogers, Carlos Camarena, and Hudson Seavers-Reale coming in with a time of 1:44.30 while the quartet of Will Thomas, Matthew Leeworthy, David Stanford, and Jonah Cowles were right behind them with a time of 1:47.55.
Joslyn Dimitri got the first win of the day for the women, touching with a time of 12:04.36 in the 1000 freestyle, and on the men's side, Jonathan Delarosa brought home first place points with a time of 2:08.42 in the 200 freestyle. The 'Roos swept the men's and women's 50 free events, as Lili Clepper took first for the women with a time of 26.62, less than a second ahead of teammate Lola Barcus-Schafer, who finished with a time of 27.21. Seavers-Reale grabbed first on the men's side as the 'Roos claimed the top three spots, with Seavers-Reale touching with a time of 22.86, barely beating out teammate Kamil Murugan, who finished with a time of 22.88. Camarena rounded out the top three with a time of 24.07.
Dimitri grabbed another victory in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:30.83, while on the men's side, Tim Smith came home with a time of 2:10.35 as the 'Roos once again took the top three spots in the event, with Thomas and Leeworthy rounding out the podium.
Smith, Stanford, and Blaine took the first three spots in the men's 100 butterfly, with Smith claiming first with a time of 58.56, while Barcus-Schafer added a first place finish for the women, touching in 59.03 as the only swimmer to break a minute, though Clepper was just behind with a time of 1:00.02 to take second.
Murugan grabbed a first place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.06, finishing just ahead of Seavers-Reale, who touched in 50.62, and Camarena was third with a time of 52.25. Sophia Smith claimed the first victory of her collegiate career in the 100 backstroke, finishing with a time of 1:07.80, while the men got another win in the 500 freestyles thanks to a time of 5:25.49 from Rogers.
The 'Roo men once again took the top three spots in one of the meet's final events, the 100 breaststroke, as Leeworthy came in with a time of 1:03.45, finishing just ahead of Rogers, who touched in 1:03.97. Thomas added third place points with a time of 1:08.78. Both teams closed strong, picking up victories in the 200 freestyle relay, with the women's team of Clepper, Barcus-Schafer, Smith, and Dimitri coming in with a time of 1:48.40, and the men's foursome of Murugan, Stanford, Delarosa, and Smith claimed the top spot with a time of 1:35.62.
