Austin College Swim Concludes SCAC Championships With Strong Final Day
GARLAND, Texas – The Austin College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams finished their season on a high note Saturday, delivering several top performances on the final day of the 2026 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at the Garland ISD Natatorium.

The 'Roo women secured a fourth-place finish in the final team standings with 357 total points. Joslyn Dimitri led the way on the final day, earning a podium finish in the 1650-yard freestyle with a third-place time of 19:12.82. In the 200-yard backstroke, Lola Barcus-Schafer won the consolation final to finish ninth overall at 2:21.72, while Reese Richmond took 15th with a time of 2:32.10.
Austin College's breaststrokers also contributed to the final point total, as Tatyana Arizmendi placed sixth in the 200-yard championship final at 2:38.53. In the consolation final of the same event, Rachel Delk finished ninth overall at 2:41.51 and Mikayla Arizmendi took 10th at 2:47.78. Lili Clepper rounded out the individual scoring for the women, placing 14th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:01.49.
The women's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Barcus-Schafer, Sophia Smith, Tatyana Arizmendi, and Dimitri capped off the night by placing third with a time of 3:49.84. In the same event, the team of Delk, Clepper, Richmond, and Mikayla Arizmendi finished 11th at 4:02.13.
The Austin College men ended the four-day meet in fourth place with 411 points. Owen Altermatt paced the 'Roos with a fourth-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle, clocking in at 17:01.06. In the 200-yard backstroke championship final, Hudson Seavers-Reale finished sixth with a time of 2:03.48, followed by Kamil Murugan in seventh at 2:05.41. JonAustin Blaine won the consolation final in the backstroke to place ninth overall at 1:56.31.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, Theodore Rogers secured a podium spot, finishing third with a time of 2:08.50, while Matthew Leeworthy followed in eighth at 2:15.37. Flyn Hughes earned a podium finish in the 200-yard butterfly, taking second place with a time of 1:55.49, while Timothy Smith (2:02.68) and David Stanford (2:06.64) placed sixth and 10th respectively.
The men's championship concluded with the 400-yard freestyle relay, where the team of Murugan, Altermatt, Seavers-Reale, and Hughes finished fifth with a time of 3:14.25. The relay team of Smith, Rogers, Stanford, and Carlos Camarena placed 12th at 3:25.02.
