Softball Drops Two at Centenary
SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College softball team dropped both halves of its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Centenary College on Friday, falling 8-0 in game one and 10-2 in game two. The 'Roos and Ladies will wrap up their series on Sunday with a single game at 3:00 p.m.

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College softball team dropped both halves of its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Centenary College on Friday, falling 8-0 in game one and 10-2 in game two. The 'Roos and Ladies will wrap up their series on Sunday with a single game at 3:00 p.m.
Game one was scoreless until Emma Crow singled home a run for Centenary in the bottom of the second, and the Ladies took advantage of defensive miscues in the fourth to make it a 2-0 game. The margin grew to 5-0 in the fifth, with all three runs in the inning scored as unearned due to defensive errors, and the Ladies tacked on three more in the sixth to make it 8-0 and end the game via the run-rule.
Alexus Johnson took the loss for Austin College, giving up seven runs, only three earned, on 10 hits in 5.1 innings of work, while Anna Scarbrock got the win by going the distance and allowing two hits and zero runs. Tori Fowler and Reagan Brinkley each had a hit for the 'Roos in the loss.
Austin College struck first in game two as Brinkley drove in a run in the top of the first, but the Ladies countered with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning, and three more came home in the second to make it a 6-1 game. The margin grew to 9-1 in the third as the Ladies pushed three more runs across, before Johnson scored the second run of the game for the 'Roos when she came home on a wild pitch.
However, Centenary ended thigns early via the run-rule in the bottom of the fifth, when Noelle Sandmann singled home a run to make it 10-2 and end the game. Lauren Trott got the loss for the 'Roos, giving up nine runs, six earned, on six hits in 2.1 innings of work, and Emma Shepherd gave up two runs on seven hits in 5.0 innings to get the victory for the Ladies. Fowler was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and a run scored to lead Austin College offensively.
