'Roos Celebrate Senior Day with Shutout Victory
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College softball team kicked off its final Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series of the year with a decisive 8-0 win against the visiting University of the Ozarks on Saturday evening at Sherman High. The 'Roos are now 4-34 overall and 4-24 in conference play.

Alexus Johnson saved her best pitching performance of the year for her Senior day, going the distance in the circle to earn the shutout win, allowing just three hits with five strikeouts and zero walks. She was also 2-for-2 with a triple, an RBI, and a run scored in the win. The 'Roos got the scoring started in the bottom of the second when Reagan Brinkley doubled home Corigan Beaird, and Brinkley later came home on a double by Jadyn Myers. Johnson drove in the final run of the inning to make it 3-0 in favor of the 'Roos.
Ashlynn Brothers knocked in a run to open up a two-run inning for the 'Roos in the third, with Myers adding her second RBI of the game to push it to a 5-0 game, and Tori Fowler got in on the action with an RBI in the fourth to push it to a 6-0 game. Hailie Swiatkowski doubled to bring home another run in the fifth and later came home on a double by Chyrsi Hemby, making it an 8-0 final via the run-rule. Hemby, Myers, and Brinkley finished 2-for-3 and Swiatkowski was 1-for-3. Both of Hemby's hits went for doubles. Jordan Hodges took the loss for Ozarks, giving up six runs, three earned, on nine hits in 3.0 innings of work.
Austin College and the Eagles will wrap up the season on Sunday with a doubleheader set to begin at 11:00 a.m. at Sherman High.
