'Roo Softball Splits with Ozarks to Finish Season
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College softball team closed out the 2025 season with a doubleheader split against the University of the Ozarks, coming away with a 13-1 win to clinch the series victory before falling 2-0 to the Eagles in the final game of the year. The 'Roos wrap up the season with a 5-35 overall record and a 5-25 mark in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The 'Roos wrap up the season with a 5-35 overall record and a 5-25 mark in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
After a scoreless first inning in game one, the 'Roos erupted for six runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a big early lead as Tessa Contreras got things started with her first career home run, a three-run shot that made it a 3-0 game. Alexus Johnson followed with an RBI single, and Chyrsi Hemby rounded out the scoring with a two-run double to make it a 6-0 game.
The Eagles got one run back in the top of the third to cut it to 6-1, but Austin College put five more runs across in the bottom half of the inning to make it 11-1. Hailie Swiatkowski brought home the first run of the frame by drawing a walk with the bases full, and Hemby singled home two more runs in the next at-bat. Jadyn Myers followed that up with a two-run bsae hit of her own to cap off the scoring in the third. The 'Roos added two more runs in the fourth as Alexus Johnson scored on an error and Tori Fowler came home earlier on that same play, making it a 13-1 final as the game ended after five innings via the run-rule.
Lauren Trott went the distance for the 'Roos to earn the win, giving up one run on six hits, while Kyndal Garner got the loss for Ozarks, surrendering six runs on four hits in 2.0 innings of action. Johnson was 3-for-4 with two RBI and Hemby was 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBI to pace the 'Roos at the plate.
Game two was once again scoreless through the opening frame, but Ozarks jumped on top 1-0 in the second on an RBI double by Makinzie Erwin, who finished the game 2-for-3, and another run came home two innings later as Lori-Ann Hughes came home on a bunt by Skylar Ward. Austin College was unable to counter, as the 'Roos were limited to just four hits in the game, with Johnson once again leading the offense with a 2-for-2 performance.
Hailie Swiatkowski threw a complete game in the final game of her Austin College career, taking the loss after giving up two runs on nine hits, while Jordan Hodges had a complete game shutout to get the win for Ozarks.
