Women's Basketball Cruises to Conference Road Win
IRVING, Texas - Brooklyn Matthews scored a game-high 16 points on efficient 8-of-10 shooting to power Austin College to a 61-42 victory over the University of Dallas on Saturday afternoon at the Maher Athletic Center. Austin College (5-5, 2-0 SCAC) shot 49% from the field and used a dominant third quarter to pull away from the Crusaders (1-10, 0-2 SCAC), who struggled offensively with 30% shooting.

Taiyla Williams added 12 points for the 'Roos, while Trinity Williams finished with nine points. Avory Miller dished out a game-high six assists to go with two steals. The game was tight early, with Dallas taking a 16-14 lead on a fast-break layup by Isabelle Chevalier with 9:25 remaining in the second quarter. However, Austin College responded immediately, closing the half on a 16-4 run. A jumper by Matthews put the 'Roos back in front, and free throws by Saleigh Berry with one second left in the half sent Austin College into the locker room with a 30-20 advantage.
The 'Roos broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring Dallas 20-8. Lexi Martin drained a three-pointer at the 8:28 mark, followed quickly by a Taiyla Williams triple at 8:04 to extend the lead to 39-20. Austin College continued to pressure the defense, pushing the lead to 48-26 on a Matthews jumper with 1:04 remaining in the period.
Austin College's lead swelled to as many as 28 points in the fourth quarter when Miller hit a jumper to make it 56-28 with 6:26 left to play. Chevalier led Dallas with 11 points. Maria Podskarbi provided a spark defensively and on the glass, recording a game-high nine rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.
