SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College women's soccer team fell in a 3-0 halftime hole and was unable to claw its way out, as Hardin-Simmons handed the 'Roos a 5-0 defeat on Tuesday afternoon. Austin College falls to 1-3 overall this season with the loss.
Kami Jones got the scoring started for Hardin-Simmons in the 24th minute of action, and assisted on the team's second goal five minutes later to put the Cowgirls ahead 2-0. Jordan Lara tallied in the 36th minute to send Hardin-Simmons into the break leading by three goals. The second half saw Hardin-Simmons get another goal from Jones, this time in the 56th minute, and Taylor Bernal in the 84th minute to put the game out of reach.
Hardin-Simmons owned a 26-7 shot edge in the match, and Laura McGee made nine saves in the net for Austin College. The 'Roos will be looking to rebound this weekend when the head on the road to take on Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Centenary College.
