Texas Lutheran struck early to take a 1-0 lead, with Aliyah Fonseca putting the Bulldogs on the board on an assist from Callie Brame at the 10:22 mark. Austin College equalized 15 minutes later, however, with Laney Lambert finding Vyla Gammer for her second goal in as many games to send the teams into halftime all square at one goal apiece.
The Bulldogs once again found an early tally to open the half, as Brame scored just over seven minutes into the second frame from an assist by Klarissa Martinez, and that wound up being the game-winner for TLU. The Bulldogs limited Austin College to four second half shot attempts, and Fonseca put the game away in the 82nd minute with her second goal of the game to make it 3-1 and that's how things would end.
Texas Lutheran finished the game with an 18-9 shot advantage, including seven to four in shots on goal. Amanda Zyla made four saves for Austin College, while Alysa Marquez stopped three shots for TLU. Austin College will be looking to bounce back on Sunday, when they host Concordia Texas for another SCAC showdown at noon.
