Hat Trick for Balderas in Dominating Win Over UD

SHERMAN, Texas - Rylie Balderas scored her first career hat trick and Austin College dominated throughout in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match against the University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon, with the 'Roos coming out on top 4-0. The 'Roos are now 6-4-2 overall and 3-3-1 in conference play.

The 'Roos jumped on top early, as Hannah Oberbeck fired an attempt home just 8:38 into the game to make it 1-0, and that's where things stood after the opening 45 minutes of action. Austin College owned a 9-5 shot advantage in the opening frame, putting four on target while the Crusaders had no shots on goal in the first half.

Balderas scored all three of her goals after halftime, starting with a tally in the 49th minute to make it a 2-0 game. Less than seven minutes later, the sophomore's corner kick deflected off of UD keeper Ella Charles and into the back of the net for her second tally, and it was only a little more than two minutes after that until Balderas completed her hat trick, ripping a shot from more than 25 yards out to make it 4-0. In all, Balderas scored her entire hat trick in a span of just 9:49.

Kieran McFarland made one save for Austin College to earn the clean sheet, while Charles had three stops for Dallas. The 'Roos finished the game with a 13-9 shot advantage, including 7-1 in shots on goal.
