'Roos Perform Well in Home Loss to Southwestern
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's swim teams battled a strong Southwestern University squad on Friday evening in Hannah Natatorium, earning several first place finishes, with the men falling 126-84 while the women were topped 166-42 by the Pirates.

Austin College picked up its first win of the meet in the 100 backstroke, as Kamil Murugan came in with a time of 57.02 to claim gold, and Flyn Hughes followed with a victory in the 200 butterfly, touching the wall with a time of 2:08.81, nearly two seconds ahead of the next closest finisher. Lili Clepper picked up the first win for the women, coming in with a time of 27.18 in the 50 free to claim the win, and Murugan added his second win of the day for the men in the 100 free, touching in a time of 49.58.
Will Thomas picked up another victory for the men in the 200 breaststroke, finishing better than three seconds faster than second place with a time of 2:24.26, and Hughes also notched another win, this time in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.54.
The 'Roos also had a number of second place finishes for both the men and women, including a silver performance by Tim Smith in the 200 freestyle, as well as second place for Murugan in the 50 freestyle. On the women's side, Joslyn Dimitri gave the 'Roos second place points in the 500 free with a time of 5:56.83, as well as in the 1000 freestyle, where she came in with a time of 12:15.38. Smith was second again in the 200 IM for the men, finishing with a time of 2:11.87, and the women's 200 free relay team of Clepper, Dimitri, Reese Richmond, and Rachel Delk came in second with a time of 1:51.18 in the event.
