Women's Tennis Falls 5-4 to Millsaps College
A 2-1 lead after doubles was not enough to push the 'Roos past the Majors
RICHARDSON, Tex. - The Women's Tennis Team from Austin College competed valiantly against the Majors from Millsaps College in a regionally-ranked battle on the campus of the University of Texas at Dallas.
Diana Carvajalino & Anna Sergiovanni suffered their first defeat of the spring season at Line 1, but the Line 2 and Line 3 tandems of Melody Duong/Grace Ortiz & Katie Seibert/Georgia Moore gave the 'Roos a 2-1 lead going into singles competition.
But Millsaps would not be deterred by the deficit as they took Lines 1, 2, 4, and 5 in straight sets. Anna Sergiovanni claimed the first singles point for the 'Roos in a thrilling 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) victory, while Grace Ortiz rolled at Line 6 to narrow the margin of victory to 1.
Austin College returns to the courts this weekend on the road against the University of Texas at Tyler. Doubles is set to begin at 10AM in Tyler, TX on Saturday, March 3rd.
