'Roo Tennis Drops SCAC Opener to LeTourneau
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's tennis teams dropped their home opening matches on Friday, which also doubled as the team's first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contests of the year against LeTourneau University. The 'Roo women fell 6-1, while the men were bested 7-0.
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's tennis teams dropped their home opening matches on Friday, which also doubled as the team's first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contests of the year against LeTourneau University. The 'Roo women fell 6-1, while the men were bested 7-0.
LeTourneau took two of three in doubles play to earn the first point of the match, as Olivia Sanchez and Emma Davidson dropped a 6-3 decision on line one while Lauren Hofeldt and Ashlyn Alexander fell by the same score on line two. Abby Sadler and Elizabeth Mojica picked up a 6-3 doubles win playing on flight three.
Alexander notched Austin College's lone singles win to secure a point for the 'Roos, taking line six by scores of 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 1-0 (10-3). Sanchez fell 6-1, 6-0 on line one and Mojica was defeated 6-0, 6-1 on line two. Hofeldt was downed 6-1, 6-2 on line three, and Davidson fell 6-0, 6-4 on line four. Lauren Walker battled but came up short on line six, falling 3-6, 6-1, 0-1 (8-10).
On the men's side, Cameron McIver and Timothy Wallace dropped their line one doubles match 6-4 and Wyatt Fischer and Patrick Fenner fell 6-0, while LeTourneau wrapped up the doubles sweep with a 6-2 line three win over Jace Warner and Cruz Rocha.
McIver was topped 6-2, 6-3 on line one, while Fischer was defeated 6-0, 6-1 on line two. Fenner lost 6-0, 6-0 on line three and Wallace suffered a 6-1, 6-2 setback on line four. Waner and Rocha were topped on lines five and six by scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1, respectively.
