'Roo Tennis Falls at Concordia

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's tennis teams fell to Concordia University-Texas in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Friday afternoon at East View High School. Both teams were downed by scores of 7-0 by the Tornados.

In the top women's doubles flight, Emma Davidson and Olivia Sanchez lost 6-0 to Emily Pullen and Valerie Sanchez. Ashlyn Alexander and Lauren Hofeldt were defeated 6-1 at line two by Reagan Branum and Aria Moreni, and at number three doubles, Elizabeth Mojica and Abby Sadler fell 6-3 to Kailey Albrecht and Alyssa Estrella.

In women's singles action, Valerie Sanchez defeated Olivia Sanchez 6-2, 6-4 at the number one position. Pullen won 6-4, 6-0 over Mojica at line two, and Moreni defeated Hofeldt 6-0, 6-2 at the third spot. Albrecht bested Davidson 6-3, 6-2 at number four singles. Estrella claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win against Alexander at line five, and Branum secured a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Sadler at number six.

In men's doubles play, Cameron McIver and Timothy Wallace were defeated 6-3 by Daniel Beckles and Rowan Daniell in the first flight. At line two doubles, Patrick Fenner and Wyatt Fischer fell 6-0 to Aaron Griffin and Kade Talbot. Cruz Rocha and Jace Warner dropped the third doubles match 6-1 against Jake Riggs and Steven Scholz.

In men's singles, Scholz defeated McIver 6-0, 6-0 at the number one spot. Beckles picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Joel Colunga at line two. Griffin won 6-0, 6-1 against Fischer at number three singles, and Talbot claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Fenner at line four. Daniell defeated Wallace 6-0, 6-1 at number five, and Jack Rectenwald beat Warner 6-0, 6-0 at the sixth position.

The 'Roos are back in action on Saturday in another SCAC competition, as they'll travel to Seguin to take on Texas Lutheran at 11:00 a.m.
