TLU Tops 'Roo Men's and Women's Tennis
SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's tennis teams dropped their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road matches against Texas Lutheran University on March 21, with the men falling 7-0 while the women were bested 5-2.
SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's tennis teams dropped their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road matches against Texas Lutheran University on March 21, with the men falling 7-0 while the women were bested 5-2.
In doubles competition on the men's side, Cameron McIver and Timothy Wallace were defeated 6-2 by Cash Herrera and Eric Moninger at the top line. At number two doubles, Patrick Fenner and Wyatt Fischer fell 6-3 to Ajonte St. Ville and Kadon Sullins. Cruz Rocha and Jace Warner dropped the third doubles match 6-1 to Logan Randall and Barrett Spaar.
In men's singles play, Herrera defeated McIver 6-0, 6-0 at flight one. St. Ville won 6-1, 6-3 over Joel Colunga at the number two spot. Sullins beat Fischer 6-0, 6-4 at line three, and Moninger claimed a 6-1, 6-4 win against Fenner at line four. Randall defeated Wallace 6-0, 6-0 at number five, and Spaar picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Warner at the sixth position.
The Austin College women opened their match strong by taking two of the three doubles flights. Emma Davidson and Olivia Sanchez secured a 6-2 win at line one doubles over Lindsay Beville and Lucero Alvarado. Elizabeth Mojica and Abby Sadler added a 6-4 victory at number three doubles against Bella Barber and Adison Ortega. Ashlyn Alexander and Lauren Hofeldt battled at line two but fell 7-6 to Bella Hill and Farah Standley.
In women's singles, Lauren Walker earned a tough victory at line six, defeating Ortega 6-0, 4-6, 10-8. However, Texas Lutheran took the remaining singles matches. Beville defeated Sanchez 6-4, 6-4 at line one, while Alvarado won 6-2, 6-1 against Mojica at number two. Standley picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win over Hofeldt at the third spot. Barber edged Davidson 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 at number four, and Hill claimed a 6-3, 6-1 victory against Alexander at line five.
