Women's Tennis Tops Ozarks, Men Fall to Eagles

The Austin College women set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles flights against the Eagles. The top-line duo of Emma Davidson and Olivia Sanchez decisively defeated Kelsey Smith and Brooke Humphrey, 6-1. At line two, Lauren Hofeldt and Ashlyn Alexander secured a 6-2 win over Madison Hamilton and Erika Jones. Elizabeth Mojica and Abby Sadler wrapped up the sweep with a 6-3 victory over Gabriella Davis and Emerson Corbin at the number three spot.
Carrying their momentum into singles play, the 'Roos dominated by winning five of the six matchups in straight sets. Sanchez led the way at number one singles, defeating Smith 6-2, 6-2. Mojica delivered a near-perfect performance at line three, handling Hamilton 6-1, 6-0. Davidson (line four), Alexander (line five), and Lauren Walker (line six) also cruised to easy victories, each winning their respective matches by a score of 6-2, 6-1. The sole point for the Ozarks came at number two singles, where Humphrey edged out Hofeldt in a hard-fought three-set battle, coming back to win 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
On the men's side, the Eagles claimed all three doubles matchups to take an early lead. The closest doubles match occurred at line three, where the 'Roos pairing of Joel Colunga and Jace Warner fell 6-3 to Seth Dunn and Luke Boyden. At line one, Cameron McIver and Timothy Wallace were defeated 6-0 by Kento Iwahara and Perry Guidry, while Wyatt Fischer and Patrick Fenner dropped their line two match 6-1 to Ryan Rosalin and Archie Martyn-Smith.
In singles play, the Eagles completed the team sweep by taking all six flights in straight sets. McIver fell to Iwahara 6-2, 6-0 at the top spot , and Colunga dropped his number two match to Haru Satomura 6-0, 6-2. Fischer showed resilience in the second set of his line four match against Zachary Hanson before ultimately falling 6-0, 6-3. Wallace, Fenner, and Warner were also defeated at lines three, five, and six, respectively, sealing the decision for the visitors.
The 'Roos will be back in action on Saturday morning when they host Hendrix College at 10:00 a.m.
