Austin College Tennis Splits with UD
SHERMAN, Texas — The Austin College men's and women's tennis teams hosted the University of Dallas at the Jordan Family Courts on Friday evening, with the women coming out on top with a 5-2 win while the men suffered a 6-1 defeat against the Crusaders.

The Austin College women's team won four singles matches and two doubles matches during their competition. Elizabeth Mojica led the way in singles action, defeating Colette Asan 6-2, 6-4 in the third flight. Emma Davidson won the fourth singles match over Evelyn Powell by a score of 6-2, 6-0. In the fifth singles spot, Ashlyn Alexander secured a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Cecilia Webb. Abby Sadler won the sixth singles match by default. In the first singles match, Olivia Sanchez lost 6-3, 6-2 to Avery Williams. Lauren Hofeldt fell in a three-set match to Kathleen Roset, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4, in the second singles flight.
In women's doubles, Sadler and Mojica earned a 6-2 win against Asan and Webb in the second flight, and Hofeldt and Alexander won the third doubles match by default. Sanchez and Davidson dropped the first doubles match 6-4 to Williams and Roset.
The Austin College men's team collected one win in singles and one win in doubles play. Patrick Fenner provided the lone singles victory for Austin College by defeating Juan Bustamente 6-1, 6-0 in the sixth flight. Cameron McIver lost 6-1, 6-2 to Christian DeLira in the first singles match. At number two singles, Joel Colunga fell 6-2, 7-5 to Gabriel Alfaro. Timothy Wallace lost 6-0, 6-3 to Aidan Nguyen in the third flight. Wyatt Fischer lost a 7-5, 6-4 decision to Cayven Yi at number four, and Jace Warner dropped the fifth singles match 6-1, 6-2 to Wheeler Ehrlich.
In men's doubles competition, Colunga and Warner defeated Ehrlich and Bustamente 6-3 in the third flight. McIver and Wallace lost 6-3 to Yi and DeLira in the first doubles match, and at number two doubles, Fischer and Fenner fell 7-6 to Alfaro and Nguyen after a 7-4 tiebreaker.
The 'Roos return to the court on Saturday morning for their final match of the season against Colorado College.
