'Roo Volleyball Battles for Four-Set Victory
HOUSTON, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team earned a hard-fought four-set win over Minnesota-Morris in the team's opening match at the First Responders Classic hosted by the University of St. Thomas on Friday, bringing the team's overall record to 6-2 on the year.
HOUSTON, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team earned a hard-fought four-set win over Minnesota-Morris in the team's opening match at the First Responders Classic hosted by the University of St. Thomas on Friday, bringing the team's overall record to 6-2 on the year.
Minnesota-Morris earned a 25-21 win in the opening set before a dominating 25-12 second set victory for the 'Roos. Austin College picked up a 25-21 win in set three, and held on for a 26-24 victory in the fourth set to clinch the match.
Rachel Sadler paced Austin College with 13 kills while adding 10 digs and a pair of service aces, and Selah Coleman added 11 kills and 10 digs. Victoria Larson had eight kills with zero attacking errors for a hitting percentage of .444 in the win, while Lindi Perry had a strong match with nine kills, a .400 hitting percentage, and two block assists. Laynie Kovacs led Austin College with 30 digs and chipped in 13 assists and three aces, and Madison Manning finished with 18 assists and 16 digs. Katie Riemer added 15 assists and nine digs in the victory.
Austin College is back on the court on Saturday for a pair of matches against Southwestern University and Howard Payne University.
