Kovacs Named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week

SUWANEE, Ga. - Austin College volleyball player Laynie Kovacs has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for matches played from Thursday, September 11 through Saturday, September 13, the league office has announced.

Kovacs, a junior libero from McKinney, earned All-Tournament honors at the 1st Responders Classic hosted by the University of St. Thomas as she totaled 76 digs over three matches, averaging 6.33 digs per set. She eclipsed 27 or more digs in two of three matches with a weekend high of 30 against Minn.-Morris while adding 28 assists over the weekend.
