Austin College Volleyball Knocks Off Schreiner
CONWAY, Ark. - The Austin College volleyball team picked up a big win on Sunday afternoon, handing Schreiner University just its second Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference defeat of the season as the 'Roos came from behind for a 3-2 victory.
CONWAY, Ark. - The Austin College volleyball team picked up a big win on Sunday afternoon, handing Schreiner University just its second Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference defeat of the season as the 'Roos came from behind for a 3-2 victory.
Schreiner, which entered the match tied for the SCAC Gold Division lead with a conference record of 10-1, took the first two sets by scores of 25-20 each, but Austin College picked up a 25-18 third set win and forced a decisive fifth seet with a 25-16 win in the fourth. After building a lead in the fifth early, the 'Roos saw the Mountaineers even the score at 15 apiece before two straight points clinched the match for Austin College.
Rachel Sadler had a huge game for Austin College with 19 kills and a .357 attacking percentage, adding 10 digs in the win. Samantha Graham added 14 kills, and Selah Coleman had 13 to go along with 11 digs. Madisin Hartsfield had six total blocks, and Laynie Kovacs had 28 digs. Madison Manning had a match-high 26 assists, with Katie Riemer adding 21 in the win.
Austin College is home on Tuesday, as the 'Roos step out of conference play to host the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at 7:00 p.m.
