Kovacs Named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week
SUWANEE, Ga. - Austin College volleyball player Laynie Kovacs has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week after an outstanding weekend on the road, the league office has announced. This is the second time this season Kovacs has earned this award.

Kovacs, a junior libero from McKinney, totaled 68 digs across a 3-0 weekend in conference play for the 'Roos with 19 or more digs in each contest. Her weekend-high came in a five-set win over Schreiner as she posted 28 digs while averaging 5.67 digs per set. The junior also added 22 assists this weekend. Kovacs currently leads the conference in service aces per set, and is second in the league with 414 total digs on the year. She also ranks in the top three in the SCAC in digs-per-set for the 2025 campaign.
