Four From Men's Water Polo Earn Academic All-District
SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College men's water polo players Nicholas Bates, Greyson Gaworecki, Jacob Johnson, and Nic Ruggiero have been selected as Academic All-District At-Large picks for their outstanding performances both athletically and academically during the 2024-25 academic year.
SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College men's water polo players Nicholas Bates, Greyson Gaworecki, Jacob Johnson, and Nic Ruggiero have been selected as Academic All-District At-Large picks for their outstanding performances both athletically and academically during the 2024-25 academic year.
Bates, a junior from Alvin, earned his Academic All-District recognition on the strength of a 3.58 grade-point-average with a major in kinesiology, as well as helping the 'Roos win 12 games last season and finishing in third place in the MPSF East Division.
Gaworecki, a sophomore from Seabrook, was named Academic All-District thanks to a 3.72 grade-point-average with a double major in political science and computer science. Gaworecki was also a second team All-MPSF East Division selection this past season.
Johnson, a junior from Eastvale, Calif., was selected as an Academic All-District performer with a 3.51 grade-point-average as a double major in business administration and kinesiology.
Ruggiero, a junior from San Juan Capistrano, Calif., earned Academic All-District with a 3.63 grade-point-average with a major in chemistry, and was also named honorable mention All-MPSF East Division last season.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances both competitively and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
